I have just installed W10 IP on our second PC which was running Windows 7 and now the LAN will not connect. Looking at the onboard LAN chip properties it is apparently 'working properly' but when I diagnose the connection from within Network Connections it fails with a message that the driver is not working. I tried installing the latest driver from the Realtek site which has apparently worked for others, but no luck. Downloaded driver package is dated May 2015 but the driver it installs is dated 16 July 2014. W10 installed driver is 1 April 2015, ver 9.1.401.2015.
Someone in another forum talked about getting a driver from windows update (with no helpful details), not much use to me unless I can access the appropriate information via another PC.

Now that I have this problem is has become apparent that Realtek have been having persistent issues with sound and network drivers for Win 10. Tomorrow I'll see if I can get a PCIe network card.
I realise I can roll back (well, I hope it works if I do...) but I'll only do that once. I know there is a workaround to do it endlessly but I don't want to break the current install, it's a PITA to do a restore/recover.
My wife uses the second PC. I don't have much time.
